Measures to support accessibility

Hoo Network takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of HOO Network:

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.

  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. HOO Network is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Additional accessibility considerations

“Although our goal is WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, we have also applied some Level AAA Success Criteria: Images of text are only used for decorative purposes. Linked images are supported through alt text to the vision impaired. All videos have alternative AAA conformance through you tube shared partners.

Known limitations for HOO Network:

  1. Image links to other areas of the site: Not images are will behave as functional links. Some images on the site are listed as decoration only. We will in the near future link all images on the site with an alt tag for better accessibility. These images include, but are not limited to; flashing advertisements. because This issue has not yet been resolved as research has not yet been conducted on user experience due to lack of test subjects.. We are currently looking into the situation and intend on launching a campaign to gather further knowledge on this issue to ensure the tagging of flashing banners does not cause a distracting, negative effect for the visually impaired while browsing our site. . Rest assure this issue is minor and the user looses no experience while browsing our site..

  2. Shared Video: Shared video do not register because Video shared from a third party are not stored on our database, as a result, do not register as component on the website, or app. Scrolling over these images may not register.. We have applied header tags to each section of shared video, as well as; added additional user options for the visually impaired through the YouTube streaming service.. Contact us for any difficulties you may experience, as we are interested in gathering more research for this option..
